2 NEW HONORARY MEMBERS NAMED AT AGM 28 NOVEMBER 2022

Report from tonight’s AGM of Temuka Golf Club, 28/11/22

Election of Officers, President, Steve Mackle;  Vice-President, C Mathewson;  Men’s Club Captain, Ross Stevenson; Lady Club Captain, Robyn Will;  Men’s Vice-Captain, Paul Mawhinney;  Ladies Vice-Captain, Anne McSweeney;   9 Hole Representative (position not filled);  Course Manager, Phil Donohue;  Committee, Dave McLachlan, Kevin Histen, Wayne Foxcroft and David Bell.

A very large attendance of members.  Willi Powell (outgoing President) was thanked for the enormous contribution she has made to the club as President, Secretary and Treasurer carrying the Club through two Covid lockdowns, a flood and countless other situations which she has handed with skill and expertise.

Two Club members were made Honorary Members of the Club – Phil Crotty and Russell Dale.

Phil has worked in many areas of the club, Social Committee, Course Committee, Match Committee and several years on the Management Committee.  He has been heavily involved in course maintenance, spraying, driving the clipper mower and gardening.   He always makes sure the course and clubhouse are presented in a neat and tidy manner and monitors the security of the club.  Phil spends an average of at least three hours a day on the course and at certain times can do up to thirty hours a week.  Thank you Phil.

Russell has worked silently away without many of us knowing the hours that both he has spent at the course, often with his wife Margaret by his side.  He empties the rubbish bins, sorting the contents for recycling, trimming of trees and hedges, weekly raking of bunkers.   He has made rake holders, seats and tee markers, new counter tops in the bar and retaining wall at No 4 tee.  Russell always helps at working bees and was a member of the Course Committee, always willing to lend a hand when asked, often taking it upon himself to tend to things needing repair.  Thank you Russell.

Both these members are a huge asset to our Club and we thank them very much for their contributions.
